Twilight Adult School – 40-Hour Security Guard Card Training Program

Program Overview

The Twilight Adult School Security Guard Training Program provides the state-mandated 40 hours of instruction required by the California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) for individuals seeking a California Guard Card and employment in the private security industry.

Students will acquire the knowledge and practical skills necessary to ensure safety, protect property, and respond effectively to emergencies in various work settings, including schools, hospitals, retail environments, and corporate offices.

Graduates gain a strong foundation in:

  • BSIS laws, regulations, and licensing requirements
  • Power to arrest and legal responsibilities
  • Public relations, professionalism, and communication
  • Observation, reporting, and patrol techniques
  • Emergency procedures and first aid basics
  • Workplace safety and conflict resolution

This program includes classroom instruction, safety simulations, and scenario-based exercises that prepare students for entry-level employment as licensed security officers.

Program Requirements

  • Completion of 40 hours of BSIS-approved instruction
  • Minimum age of 18 years
  • Valid government-issued photo ID and Social Security Number (required for BSIS application)
  • Fingerprint background clearance (Live Scan) for state certification

Enrollment Process

All students must complete an entrance exam to qualify for enrollment.
After the exam, prospective students meet with a Twilight Adult School counselor to discuss career goals, certification steps, and financial aid eligibility.
